Joseph P. Johnson is a native of San Angelo, Texas. He graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas in 2009, receiving a Bachelor of Arts with a major in History and a minor in English. He then served for a year in the Americorps V.I.S.T.A. (Volunteers in Service to America) program, working with the Student Conservation Association, serving Dallas youth in an outdoor conservation setting. Following his time in the Americorps, he attended Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he was a merit scholar, served as a faculty research assistant, wrote onto the Consumer Financial Law Quarterly Report, and participated in Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. After graduating from OCU Law in 2014, he began working as an Assistant County and District Attorney with the Milam County District Attorney's office, where he handled felony, misdemeanor, juvenile, and appellate prosecutions. After two years in Milam County, he accepted a position with the Tom Green County District Attorney's Office where he worked as an Assistant District Attorney. Now, he works as an associate at Smith Rose Finley where he handles real estate, estate planning, civil litigation, and appellate matters.
