Biography: George S. Finley was born in San Angelo, Texas, on January 27, 1927. He graduated from San Angelo High School in 1944 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge in 1946, he attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his B.B.A. in 1949 and his J.D. in 1952. He returned to San Angelo to practice law and joined the firm that would become Smith, Rose, Finley, PC. George was a highly respected oil and gas attorney, representing families owning large and small West Texas Ranches. He was a member of the Tom Green County Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, and Texas Bar Foundation. George passed away on October 15, 2016.
